biennale interieur 2018. jury spaces awards
|
This years jury for the Interieur Awards consisted of, amongst others, Alex Mustonen of Snarkitecture, journalist Tom Morris and Glenn Sestig.
The goal was to select the projects the jurors found remarkable enough to be presented to the large and professional audience. The winning bar concepts are built at the biennale for the visitors to experience and are yet again a fine example of what is going on in the present world of design.
Make sure to look for them while visiting the biennale.

Glenn Sestig designed a complete collection of his fixture 'expression'. The colored cone stands in contrast with the concrete-grey fixture giving it a contemporary yet classical feel. The expression is available within a variety of colors, sizes and applicable in different settings.
New objects such as a surveillance camera are added as well as new custom materials and finishes.

About five years ago the Dewaele Brothers wanted a reboost of their identity as a dj duo/producers/rockband. This wish set in course a series of events of which the construction of the recording studio was a key story. Studio Deewee has been their business card ever since. The strong visual identity is the heart of their endeavours and recognizable in every aspect of their professional being.

The newly founded close collaboration between Van Den Weghe and Dominique De Simpel has claimed its place at the biennale.
Van Den Weghe who is known for its architectural clearcut lines in natural stone combined forces with De Simpel, who has a clear passion for tiles, marble, mosaic and consorts without reflecting a certain fashion, fad or time period.

Ariake is a furniture brand founded by Legnatec and Hirata Chair, two factories from the furniture producing town of Morodomi in Saga prefecture, Japan.
Their furniture is made for social situations where people live, work and eat together. Their philosophy resulted in a collection of furniture that utilizes the best of hand and machine, inspired by the spirituality of Japanese culture and urban living contexts.
Glenn Sestig made it his goal to truly represent their ideology in this scenography for the biennale.

This reconversion of an office building into hotel and private apartments will become one of the most exclusive living experiences in Ghent. The building with splendid views on the iconic public space Kouter and Ghent’s city space will include a full time concierge service, spa & wellness.

Located on a southwest-facing plot, in the midst of the woods of Antwerp, this residence with internal courtyard addresses the challenge of the restricted building area on the large plot.
The brief of the owner contained a full family residence along with an underground private bar, home cinema and spa area.

On the edge of the highway halfway between Ghent and the French border you will come across a striking apparition.
This pyramid, which will house the new headquarters and showrooms, is in need of some new impulses and aspiration to reflect the growing name and business of IVC group, a market leader in Europe and North America in vinyl flooring.
